Is this the way of developing countries ? Will we be better off tomorrow than we are today ??
This blog is dedicated to some serious cud chewing on our dear country.
Feel free to answer these questions.
As time passes by we need to find these answers and the right solutions.
For starters, my answers :
Yes, India is indeed shining. But it is not a new phenomenon and did not happen today, or ten years back or even a hundred years back.
In fact India has been shining like a star for many thousands of years. Our culture, our history, our past and present is witness to that.
That's the reason we have been invaded by hundreds of armies, rulers, kings, empires and invaders. Everyone took back a little of India. But there was always more to spare. That's India - there is something here for every one.
Food for thought ?? Think about it ................
Note (15th Jan 2008) : Readers comments suggest that many people are not convinced that India is indeed shining. Yes, we are living in , what was till recently, a least developed country, bundled together with countries such as Bangladesh, Pakistan and other countries of Africa. But we have made the great leap forward. Do not expect this leap to change India into a US or a European country overnight. The transition will be slow and painful, but we will reach the top one day.

Yes, India is shining.
But remember, to be a developed country, we have to uplift the poorest of the poor and not just the rich getting richer.

I say India will shine the moment they make Ponting eat his own words and Symonds out for a duck. Quack, Quack.
india might b shining but will continue to shine only if we all work 2wards it. so lets all do sumthing 4 our country 4 a change...and b proud of her.
All this talk of India Shining is created by politician's to divert attention from the real issues - illiteracy, malnutrition, healthcare, law n order n so on.
Howxome we never heard of Japan shining, US shining, Germanu shining n so on in their heydays.
Yes India is on the move, but lets do it quitely instead of making a song n dance about it.
India shining is an old concept. Now we have to forget the shining part and be a leading light to the rest of the world. For example, countries in South East Asia are studying the Indian model in order to replicate India's economic success in the recent years. This success was mainly due to the Service Industry. What India needs now is to shift focus to the manufacturing industry and carve out the same success here as was done in the case of the Service Industry. WE CAN DO IT. GO INDIA GO !!!!
C'mon guys, all this talk of Idia shining is driving me nuts. Lets talk of sumthing else. India will shine if all you suckers do your job instead of getting into long winded rambles of self praise. So no more of such b4 I bolw my top.

All this talk of India shining may be driving you nuts, but please be patriotic and be a bit excited about the new India.
This is the India on the move and if you languidly waste yourtime, you will miss the bus.

Absolutely agree to that. Indians have to be more patriotic. We are first to criticize ourselves. Only if we have more of self respect and self confidence will our India make a mark amongst global giants.
Hope this new shining India concept generates the necessary emotions within us to propel our country to a better future.
India shining or not is a debate which will continue to be played. We should take pride in our country and do the best in our daily lives. One does not have to be a great leader to make a difference to our country. By living a decent life, working hard and being honest, we can indeed make India shine like the sun.
Sir, Please answer these questions for me :
1. Is India really developing the way it should?
2. If so, why are the poorest of the poor delinked from this development ? Can you honestly say that they have benifitted from India's recent development ?
3. Will not this sort of haphazard development cause social strife and unrest ?
4. For any country to really develop, we should have a set of politicians who rise above vote bank politics and take the country very seriously. Why are our politicians not doing that, but instead are only interest in their own development / development of their constituencies / vote bank etc ?
5. Why is corruption still so prevalent in our country ? We are still bracketted with sub Saharan countries and other banana Republics in this regard. As far as business ethics and corruption our rank is still around 130 out of 160 countries. Why ?
6. Why are Indians so unhygenic? The way we litter the place and are not at all shamed to even defecate in public is disgusting. When will we behave like a developed society and what measures can be taken to avoid this ?
7. The incidents of dowry, wife beating, molestations, rapes are one of the highest in India. Does this make us a developed society or an undeveloped one ?
8. Whereas in developed countries philanthropy is a way of life, our rich businessmen, socialites and High net individuals are only interested in accumulating their wealth and not in any social work as such. Why ?
